In furtherance of its ongoing strides and efforts to strengthen security across government institutions, the Anambra State Government, under the leadership of Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo, CFR, has taken proactive measures to secure the Jerome Udoji Secretariat Complex, Awka, through the installation of advanced security infrastructure.
The interventions, which include the deployment of solar-powered streetlights, CCTV cameras, and perimeter security enhancements, are aimed at ensuring the safety of government employees and protecting state assets from unauthorized access and criminal activities.
According to the State Commissioner for Information, Dr. Law Mefor, in a statement made available to newsmen, the interventions were parts of Soludo’s administration’s evidence-based commitment to improving security across the state, particularly within critical government installations.
Dr. Mefor noted that the new measures would not only deter criminal activities but also create a safer and more conducive working environment for civil servants. He further emphasized that security remains a top priority for the Soludo Administration, and that strategic steps are being taken to ensure that both the residents and the public institutions are well protected. He also revealed that the installation of CCTV cameras, solar-powered lighting, and enhanced perimeter security is part of a broader vision to make Anambra the safest state in Nigeria.
The statement further highlighted some of security interventions at the secretariat include the installation of 40 CCTV cameras to provide real-time monitoring of activities within the complex, two hybrid solar-powered control rooms to ensure uninterrupted surveillance and rapid response to security incidents, and solar-powered lighting to improve visibility at night and deter potential threats.
Continuing, Dr. Mefor added that barbed wires have also been installed around the perimeter fence, while iron protectors have been mounted on doors and windows to prevent unauthorized access.
He added that the Illegal access points previously created by uncovered drainages have also been closed, alongside a restructuring of the security management team for improved efficiency. It was also gathered that the access road leading to the secretariat has also been rehabilitated to facilitate seamless movement and emergency response when necessary.
“These and other interventions being considered demonstrate the workers’ friendly Governor Soludo’s commitment to addressing the security challenges facing the Jerome Udoji Secretariat Complex and ensuring a safe and secure working environment for employees,” he said.
