Anambra State Commissioner for Information, Dr. Law Mefor, has assured the newly created Anambra Civic and Social Reformation Office (ANCISOR) of his support and that of the ministry to enable it to achieve the desired behaviour modification for a better Anambra, especially in the areas of drug abuse and moral rearmament campaigns.
Receiving the ANCISOR Managing Director and former Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of the defunct National Light Group of Newspapers, Sir Chuka Nnabuife, who paid him a courtesy visit at the Jerome Udoji Secretariat Complex, Awka, Dr Mefor expressed happiness over meeting with the agency, saying he was looking forward to working with the agency as a psychologist who is emotionally attached to issues of behaviour and attitude change.
He decried the increasing rate of moral decadence among youths in the society, including the issue of Drug abuse, Anti-cultism and Yahoo Plus, which constitute major crises for the present and future generations in Anambra and the nation at large.
“You talked about Anambra values. If Igboland were a train of coaches, Anambra is the head coach dragging others. If you want to get Ala Igbo right, get Anambra right. So whatever we do and we are not getting it right, others are copying it as the right thing because they see Anambra as their own Dubai or places like that.
“We will work together to see this agency fully launched and unleashed. It’s a serious job. Thank God we have experts to help you in doing some of the designing of public communications and public enlightenment. The Nigeria Psychological Association members are ready to submit their expertise, help in designing all the programs, help you drive the course, and within months, your agency will be a household name,” Mefor said.
Earlier, the ANCISOR MD, Sir Chuka Nnabuife, informed the commissioner that the essence of the visit was to familiarise and explain their job of making people know the core agenda of Anambra State, including the dos and don’ts in the state.
“The Solution Agenda as presented to us is that Anambra State has all the potential of being better if all of us will ensure a clean Anambra, obey the law, pay our taxes, watch to know how our money is spent and support good things like education, health and community development,” Sir Chuka said.
