Industrial Action: Reason For Loss Of Power Supply In Imo State

Sharing is caring

The Enugu Electricity Distribution Company PLC (EEDC) has said that the loss of supply currently being experienced in Imo state is as a result of the industrial action by the organised labour union in the state.

This led to the union shutting down the source of supply at Egbu Transmission Station, leaving the company with no energy to distribute to its numerous customers.

In a statement made available to news men the electricity company said “as a result of this development, the whole of Imo State is without electricity supply”.

‘We appreciate the inconveniences this situation must have caused our customers, and we hope that the issue will be resolved soon. Be assured that we are on standby to restore supply once the industrial action is called off, the statement added

The Industrial action embarked upon by the electricity workers may be connected to the arrest and subsequent brutalization of NLC President Joe Ajaero by officers of the Nigerian Police attached to the Imo state police command.
According the NLC Spokesperson, Ajaero is currently receiving treatment at an undisclosed hospital and maybe flown abroad for further treatment as his condition has worsened
