Implementation of Oronsaye Report Still Pending, No Timeline Given– Gbajabiamila

Femi Gbajabiamila, Chief of Staff to President Bola Tinubu, has stated that there is no timeline yet for the implementation of the Steve Oronsaye Report.

Despite claims of the report being stalled, Gbajabiamila assured that the Federal Government is working on the necessary modalities for a smooth implementation.

The report, submitted in 2012, recommended the merger, scrapping, or relocation of various parastatals, agencies, and commissions to reduce the cost of governance and increase efficiency.

Although the Federal Executive Council approved the report’s implementation in February, no progress has been made six months later.

Gbajabiamila emphasized the need for thoroughness over haste, saying, “Anything worth doing is worth doing properly… It will be done soon.”

It is not as easy as it sounds. A committee has been set up looking at it and I am sure very soon, the final report will be out and implementation will begin.

“I can’t get give an exact timeline but soon…We don’t want to sacrifice thoroughness on the altar of anxiety or anxiousness of getting things done. It will be done soon.”

However, the delay has raised concerns, especially after the recent creation of a new ministry, which some see as contradictory to the report’s recommendations.
