…Appeal To The Governor To Sack Him Over Unguarded Utterances And Uncomplimentary Remarks Against The Imo NDDC Rep, Hon Dr Kyrian C Uchegbu.
Imo Youths have again called on the Special Assistant to the Governor on Youths, Mr Eric Uwakwe to immediately retract his comments and apologize to the Imo NDDC Rep Hon Dr Kyrian C Uchegbu over his constant unguarded utterances and alleged uncomplimentary remarks or face the full wrath of the youths.
The youth leaders, shortly after the commemoration of Intl Youth Day Celebration organised by NDDC in Owerri also called on Governor Hope Uzodinma to continue to exercise discernment and decisiveness in addressing disloyalty within his cabinet having stated in different fora that the interests of the state and its citizens must always continue to take precedence over personal agendas and political machinations in Imo State.
The Youths however appealed to the State Governor, H/E Hope Uzodinma to quickly relieve his Special Adviser on Youth affairs, Eric Uwakwe of his appointment over his recent unguarded outburst against the personality of the Imo NDDC Rep in the State.
Mr. Eric Uwakwe over the past weeks have been seen in a viral social media post abusing and insulting the personality of the Imo NDDC Rep accusing the Imo Rep of not been accountable to Imo Youths.
Imo Youths are concerned that the derogatory comments from this political appointee if not properly addressed might trigger tension in the State as Many Imo Youths are calling for security caution to curtail likely breach of peace which might lead the youths into crisis in the State.
Briefing journalists on the development shortly after the celebration of Intl Youth Day in the State, Imo Youths called on the State Commissioner for Information, Hon Declan Emelumba to quickly distance the government from the actions of this overzealous aide noting that his views on social media did not in any way, reflect government’s intension.
We are sure that Mr Eric Uwakwe was not directed by anyone to speak on behalf of the government and it is true that the Governor deeply respects the person of Hon Dr Kyrian C Uchegbu and as such can not send any of his Aide to abuse him online.
Imo Youths therefore warn and directed that henceforth, no government official should be allowed to speak without clearance from the relevant govt authority, and anybody found wanting should be duly sanctioned including Mr Eric Uwakwe.
While condemning the unfortunate Utterances of Mr Eric Uwakwe and the disrespect shown to the Imo NDDC Rep, we wish to make it categorically clear that the views expressed by Mr Eric do not in any way represent the official position of the State Government under the leadership of Governor Hope Uzodinma.
It is important to emphasize that neither the Commissioner for Information nor the State Governor gave Mr Eric Uwakwe the clearance to speak on behalf of the government and Mr Eric Uwakwe has never served as an official Spokesman of the government both in the first and second term of the 3R Govt.
The Imo State Government under Gov Hope Uzodinma holds the NDDC and its Rep in a very high esteem and have continued to extend his tremendous amount of respect, support and cooperation to them.
Beside the good understanding existing between the government and people of Imo State and NDDC, the Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma deeply respects the person and office of the Imo State Rep and will not condone any iota of disrespect from any member of his cabinet to the Commission.
Imo Youths therefore directs that henceforth, no official of Imo government should be allowed to speak on any matter outside the purview of his or her MDA without express clearance and permission from the Governor as Imo Youths have vowed that henceforth, no Unguarded and inflammatory statement from any govt aide will be tolerated and condoned by the Youths.
Imo Youths While expressing our continued faith, support and loyalty in the NDDC and its Rep in Imo, we wish to call on all youthful residents in the state to remain law-abiding and continue to go about their normal businesses without any hindrances as the Imo NDDC Rep and the 7th Governing Board is fully out and determined to make a difference in the lives of the teeming youths of the State.
The hallowed halls of governance demand a steadfast commitment to the principles of integrity, loyalty, and service to the people. Eric Uwakwe’s egregious behavior, compounded by his history of incompetence followed by his unrepentant return into blackmailing, sabotage, insult and accusation of the NDDC Imo Rep underscores a dangerous trend of self-interest and disregard for public good.
Imo youths therefore implore the State Governor, His Excellency Hope Uzodimma to continue to exercise discernment and decisiveness in addressing disloyalty within his cabinet. The interests of Imo State and its citizens is paramount and must always take precedence over personal agendas and political machinations.
Imo Youths hereby demand a retraction and apology from Eric Uwakwe without further delay to the governor and government of Imo State before 47 hours or face the full wrath of the Youths in the State.
