Imo State Police And Military Collaborate In Major Operation To Combat Kidnapping And Violent Crimes Around FUTO

In response to the growing wave of criminal activities, the Imo State Police Command, in close partnership with the military, has launched a large-scale operation to tackle kidnapping, armed robbery, and other violent crimes.

This initiative is focused on the Owerri West LGA, particularly areas such as Obinze, Ihiagwa, Avu, and the Federal University of Technology, Owerri (FUTO), along with neighboring communities.

Announced on Thursday, September 12, 2024, the operation highlights the commitment of both the police and military to restore peace and security across the affected areas.

By combining their skills and resources, the security forces aim to dismantle criminal networks and bring offenders to justice. The recent spike in kidnappings has raised concerns among residents and students, prompting the deployment of highly specialized teams to address the threats. The operation is particularly focused on ensuring the safety of educational institutions like FUTO, maintaining a secure learning environment.

Commissioner of Police, CP Aboki Danjuma, has urged the public to cooperate fully with security forces. He encouraged residents to report any suspicious behavior or individuals to their nearest police station or through the emergency hotline at 08034773600.
