In a decisive move to restore order and safeguard public interest, the Governor of Imo State, His Excellency, Distinguished Senator (Dr.) Hope Uzodimma, CON, GSSRS, has approved the immediate ban on all forms of task force currently operating under any guise or within any Ministry, Department, or Agency (MDA) in the State.
The decision to ban all task forces arises from growing concerns over their incessant activities, which have not only become a source of public nuisance but have also tarnished the image of the government. Reports of misconduct, extortion, and harassment of citizens by unauthorized task force operatives have prompted the government to take swift and firm action to eliminate this menace.
Following His Excellency’s approval, the government has issued a strong warning to any individual or group operating as a task force under any pretence. Security operatives across the state have been mandated to enforce this directive by apprehending anyone found engaging in such activities. Offenders will face the full weight of the law, as the government is committed to upholding law and order while ensuring that Imo State remains a conducive environment for its residents and businesses.
The Imo State Government, therefore, calls on the general public to take note of this directive and comply accordingly. Any reports of unauthorized task force activities should be promptly reported to security agencies for immediate action.
For official confirmation and further inquiries, the public is advised to contact the Office of the Secretary to the Government of Imo State.
