The Imo State Police Command has arrested and paraded three suspects found in possession of a human skull in Okigwe Local Government Area.

According to a statement by the Command’s spokesperson, DSP Henry Okoye, the arrests were carried out by officers from the Okigwe Divisional Police Headquarters in collaboration with vigilant residents of the Ogii community. The suspects were apprehended with a human skull, a native hen, and white garments.

The individuals arrested have been identified as 29-year-old Patrick Okoere, 28-year-old Ifeanyichukwu Anyaemeka, and 20-year-old Chukwuemeka Onyekachi. They are currently in police custody as investigations continue.

During interrogation, one of the suspects, Patrick Okoere, claimed that his uncle, Osunta Oko, had instructed him to obtain a human skull. He alleged that he found the skull along a riverbank on the Okigwe-Umuahia Expressway—an area notorious for reports of kidnappings.

The police spokesperson confirmed that the command is actively tracking down Osunta Oko and other possible accomplices linked to the crime. A DNA analysis is also underway to establish the identity of the skull’s original owner.

Reacting to the arrest, the Commissioner of Police, CP Aboki Danjuma, reaffirmed the commitment of the Imo State Police Command to ensuring public safety. He assured that the suspects would face prosecution once investigations are concluded and promised to provide further updates as the case progresses.
