Imo Police Command Trains Over 200 Officers To Boost Professionalism

In a renewed move to enhance the professional competence of its personnel and foster public trust, the Imo State Police Command, on Tuesday, April 15, 2025, held a pivotal refresher lecture as part of its 45-week in-house training initiative. The programme, which is being rolled out across the state, seeks to reinforce legal knowledge and operational excellence among officers.

Held at the Command Headquarters in Owerri, the session brought together over 200 police officers drawn from various divisions and formations within the Command. The lecture was delivered by Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Shaba Adamu, who serves as the Chief Personal Security Officer (CPSO) to the Executive Governor of Imo State. CSP Adamu offered a wealth of practical legal insights drawn from his professional journey in law enforcement, focusing on essential topics such as the nature and admissibility of evidence, hearsay and circumstantial evidence, and a thorough analysis of the Judges’ Rule and its principles.

His presentation was designed not only to clarify complex legal concepts but also to equip officers with the tools needed to apply the law judiciously and ethically in their daily operations.

Prior to the commencement of the lecture, the Commissioner of Police, CP Aboki Danjuma, addressed the gathering, emphasizing the importance of the training in the evolving landscape of policing. He urged participants to absorb the teachings with seriousness and reflect them in their field engagements. According to CP Danjuma, the programme is a strategic step towards improving legal compliance, operational conduct, and fostering accountability within the ranks of the Nigeria Police Force in Imo State.

“This initiative is about building a police force that is not only competent but also trusted by the public. We are committed to ongoing learning, ethical behavior, and delivering the highest standards of service to the people of Imo State,” CP Danjuma stated.

The Command’s spokesperson, DSP Henry Okoye, anipr, reiterated in a statement that the training aligns with the core mandate of the Nigeria Police to uphold the rule of law while promoting transparency and responsiveness. He affirmed that the Imo State Police Command will continue to invest in personnel development as a cornerstone of effective policing.
