Imo Gov’t Issues Compliance Directives For Scrap And Metal Waste Dealers

Sharing is caring

The Eastern Waste Management Company (EWAMAC), in collaboration with the Office of the Special Adviser to the Governor on Monitoring and Compliance, has issued important directives to all scrap and metal waste dealers in the state. All members of the National Association of Scrap and Waste Dealers of Nigeria (NASWDEN) are required to pay their monthly waste disposal fees through the leadership of the association.

In addition, every truck loading process must be supervised by a task force from EWAMAC, the SA Monitoring and Compliance Office, and the NASWDEN Taskforce. A Clearance Certificate will be issued after each loading is completed. Scavengers must also register with a designated dump or dealer, and they will be provided with a uniform or apron, clearly marked with a number tag for identification.

All scavengers are required to begin their daily activities by 7:00 AM and end by 6:00 PM.

To ensure total adherence to these directives, the EWAMAC Taskforce, together with the SA on Monitoring and Compliance Taskforce, will be actively monitoring and enforcing compliance. Defaulters will be apprehended and dealt with accordingly.
