Imo First Lady Brings Christmas Cheer To Owerri Custodial Center

Chief Barr. (Mrs.) Chioma Uzodimma, FIMC, CMC, the First Lady of Imo State, extended the spirit of Christmas to inmates at the Nigerian Correctional Service Custodial Center in Owerri, emphasizing her dedication to supporting marginalized groups.

Represented by Hon. Nkechinyere Ugwu, UNJP, the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Welfare, Mrs. Uzodimma distributed essential materials to both male and female inmates. She also announced plans to renovate the facility’s sewing workshop, which she had previously equipped with sewing machines, furthering her commitment to skills development for the inmates.

Addressing the female inmates, Mrs. Uzodimma encouraged them to remain hopeful and resilient during the festive season, emphasizing that the birth of Jesus Christ symbolizes renewed hope and fulfilled promises. She assured them of continued support for their skills acquisition programs, aimed at empowering them for a smoother reintegration into society post-incarceration.

During the visit, funds for the renovation of the sewing workshop were officially handed over to DCC Chinaka Idoka Nwokoma, the facility’s officer in charge.

DCC Nwokoma expressed heartfelt gratitude to the First Lady for her consistent generosity and commitment to the welfare of the inmates. He praised her efforts in equipping the inmates with life-changing skills that promise a brighter future upon their release.

This gesture, spearheaded by Mrs. Uzodimma’s GoodHope Flourish Foundation and her active role as Secretary of the Renewed Hope Initiative, underscores her dedication to uplifting the vulnerable and spreading hope across Imo State.
