Mr Dozie Ikedife, The APC South East zonal Organizing Secretary, made the demand, yesterday, in his home town Nnewi.
The All Progressives Congress (APC) have started demanding for immediate distribution of the Federal Government palliatives to Anambra State, accusing Governor Chukwuma Soludo of hoarding the rice for his political gains.
He also said, that the continued delay in the distribution of the palliatives which he said were released by the Federal Government for over four months now had projected the President Bola Tinubu’s administration in a bad light before the people of Anambra State.
“Soludo is now rebagging the bag’s of rice putting his inscriptions for political gains. He is rebranding them for political reasons. He is campaigning with the rice as if he is the one giving it to the people whereas it is the Federal Government’s initiative.
“I want to use this opportunity to call on the Anambra State Government to desist from such act. Something that is released to the poor people of the State should not be highjacked for political aggrandizement. It should be distributed without any Political selfishness.
“Many States have since distributed their own supply while a State like Anambra State still hold on their own by the governor of the state.
“The Governor can campaign for a second tenure but he should not use the rice palliatives from the Federal Government, for any campaign in Anambra. The President Tinubu-led administration had released five trailer loads of the rice to each State of the Federation and more are still coming. They must be released to the people for whom the palliatives are meant for”, He said.
“We saw such hoarding in the past but that should not be repeated. We don’t want it to keep repeating. The Governor doesn’t have the right to keep the rice. Federal Governement sent the rice for a particular purpose and that purpose should not be defeated.
“But if the Governor doesn’t want to do the needful, we will leave it to his conscience, of the poor people of Anambra State. The day of judgment is coming, “he concluded.
Reaction of the Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr Christian Aburime said the distribution had started.
He said: “Anambra State government under the leadership of Prof Chukwuma Charles Soludo is distributing the palliatives of the Federal Government ward by ward to all nooks and crannies of the State, which about 8 LGA in Anambra State have receive theirs why others are yet to receive theirs”, he added.
