If Peter Obi Becomes Running Mate To Anybody, I’ll Work Against That Ticket – Aisha Yesufu

Sharing is caring

Nigerian activist Aisha Yesufu has clarified that she will campaign against Peter Obi if he seeks a vice presidential role in the 2027 elections.

In a video posted on Monday, September 16, Yesufu questioned why the most qualified individuals are often pushed into secondary roles, challenging Obi’s reported willingness to be a vice president under another candidate.

Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate in 2023, had earlier expressed a readiness to collaborate with other politicians, including Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP).

He stated, “I’m ready to collaborate with anyone interested in lifting people out of poverty,” emphasising that any collaboration should focus on improving citizens’ lives rather than just winning elections.

Obi clarified his position in an interview with News Central, stating, “Quite frankly, for me, I’m not desperate to be Nigerian president. I am desperate to see Nigeria work. If I see people who can do the work better, I will.”

However, he recently denied reports suggesting he would accept a vice presidential role, calling it a distortion of his statement.

Obi asserted, “I do not want to be one of those preoccupied with 2027 while Nigerians are suffering from hunger, poverty, insecurity, and other pressing challenges.”
