A suspected Improvised Explosive Device (IED) exploded at the bustling Buni Yadi market in Gujba Local Government Area of Yobe State on Friday, injuring a young girl.
The blast occurred around 12:30 PM, according to resident Ali Hassan.
Captain Muhammad Shehu, spokesman for the Sector 2 Joint Task Force Operation Hadin Kai, confirmed the incident and reported that another IED was discovered and safely detonated by the Army.
The sole victim is receiving treatment at a local health facility.
Shehu clarified that the incident was a planted IED, not a suicide bombing.
Buni Yadi, located 54 kilometers from Damaturu, the state capital, was previously under Boko Haram control for two years, making it one of the worst-hit areas in Yobe State.
