The Honourable Member representing Idemili North and South Federal Constituency, Hon. Uchenna Harris Okonkwo, on 1st January 2025, highlighted the pivotal role of sports in fostering communal unity, peace, and progress. The lawmaker made these remarks during the grand finale of the Ojoto Unity Cup tournament.
Hon. Okonkwo, while urging the youth to focus on advancing their careers and avoiding societal vices, reiterated his unwavering commitment to promoting sports development in Idemili.
He outlined his plans for sports and youth development as a member of the House Committee on Sports in the House of Representatives. He also pledged to support the players by rewarding the best performers and ensuring they have opportunities to advance their careers through national and international competitions.
The tournament, organized by High Chief Frank Okafor (Igwulube Idemili North and South), was designed to promote peace, unity, and progress in Ojoto.
