The Member Representing Idemili North And South Federal Constituency, Hon. Uchenna Harris Okonkwo, has presented a petition submitted to his office by the Ugwuagu family against the Nigerian Erosion and Watershed Management Project (NEWMAP) regarding an abandoned project at Umuota, Obosi.
The petitioners, noted that NEWMAP started a project in their locality but abandoned it halfway, causing serious damage to their environment. They seek the House’s intervention to urge the agency to return to the site and complete the project.
The petition was eloquently conveyed by Hon. Uchenna Harris Okonkwo, and subsequently, the House adopted the petition and promptly referred it to the Committee on Public Petitions for further legislative action.
