Hon Princess Chinwe Nnabuife, Member Representing Orumba North and South Federal Constituency, In The Recent Development regarding the proposed creation of “Orlu State”, has clarify my stand and correct any misconceptions inherent/ surrounding the bill in question.
The said bill which has become contentious as was sponsored by Hon. Ugochinyere Michael is seeking for the creation of “Orlu State”. The contentious Bill however scaled its first reading in the House of Representatives on a day I was unavoidably away (owing to my oversight functions), This bill, identified as HB1430, purportedly includes Umunze Community in the proposed new state. She however, emphasize that she and the good people of Umunze whom she Represent in The National Assembly are not privy to this bill as she was never consulted on this matter and therefore do not and cannot support any bill that may prove detrimental to the interests of the people whose mandate she represent.
“However, It is imperative to set the record straight: That she Hon Chinwe Nnabuife, have nothing against the creation of Orlu State or any State for that matter, but considering that the said bill was neither discussed nor deliberated upon with me or my Constituents before being brought to the floor of the House of Representatives, incidentally when I was away on behalf of my people disassociate my self from whatever it seeks to achieve in relation to the people I represent. The People of Orumba North and South have unequivocally rejected the idea of being railroaded into the proposed “Orlu State”. Umunze, the heart and Capital of Orumba South has always been and will always remain an integral part of Anambra State.
As the duly elected Representative of Orumba North and South Federal Constituency, it is my duty to protect the interest and the wishes of my Constituents. Any attempt to alter the status of our constituency without proper consultation and agreement is unacceptable. The Historical, Cultural, and Administrative Ties of Umunze to Anambra State are deeply rooted and cannot be overlooked or undermined by the proposed bill.
However, in the press release issued to journalist in Anambra State has clears the air of any ambiguities and sets the records straight: Umunze In Orumba North/ Orumba South Federal Constituency remains steadfastly an integral part of and indivisible Anambra state”, she noted.
