Some unknown Gunmen on Thursday attacked the convoy of APC governorship candidate in Edo state Senator Monday Okpebholo killing three policemen
The incident happened when the senator in company of the reinstated deputy governor of the state, Philip Shaibu, arrived Benin City from Abuja.
According to reports the clash occurred in the afternoon, shortly after the duo arrived Benin
While some sources said three policemen sustained gunshot injuries, others said three policemen lost their lives during the clash.
The Public Relations Officer of Edo State Police Command, Chidi Nwabuzor, who could not confirm or deny the report however said but said who said they also heard it as a rumour, said it would be premature for the Command to make any statement on it without investigation.
It was learnt that as soon as Okpebholo and Shaibu left the airport the gunmen, in a Sienna vehicle parked at the exit gate of the airport, opened fire at their convoy.
