Sharing is caring

The WhatsApp number of Akwa Ibom State Governor Umo Eno has been hacked by fraudsters, leading to an attempt to defraud several of his contacts.

Individuals on the governor’s contact list received messages from his WhatsApp number requesting money be sent to a specified account with a promise of a refund later.

The Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Ekerete Udoh, issued a statement revealing that the governor’s WhatsApp number had been cloned by criminal elements.

The CPS emphasized that the messages were not from Governor Eno and urged the public to disregard any such requests.

Law enforcement agencies have been alerted and are actively investigating the situation to apprehend those responsible.

A similar incident occured in July when one of the phone numbers of Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke was also hacked.

The public is urged to be vigilant and cautious when receiving suspicious messages, even if they appear to be from a trusted source.
