In a unified show of support, the Progressive Governors’ Forum (PGF) and the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) have endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s renewed vision for national security, which emphasizes empowering local governments and communities to take proactive roles in combating insecurity across the nation.

This endorsement follows the President’s recent visit to Benue State, which catalyzed high-level discussions among state leaders on the country’s evolving security challenges. In a collective stance, the governors called for a swift rollout of a sub-national security framework that complements federal efforts, while leveraging local knowledge and participation.

Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma, revealed that the state had already adopted the community-based security model and is witnessing measurable improvements. According to him, localized security strategies have enabled quicker responses, enhanced intelligence sharing, and increased citizen trust in security processes.

“This system has been deployed across our communities with promising results. Through strategic collaboration, information gathering, and lawful interventions, we are restoring safety and stability in Imo,” Uzodimma noted.

He emphasized that Imo’s model is grounded in community cooperation, where residents, traditional institutions, and law enforcement agencies work hand-in-hand to deter threats and maintain peace.

Governor Uzodimma further assured that state governments remain steadfast in supporting the President’s reforms, stressing that protecting lives and property remains a collective duty.

“The security of our people is paramount. It requires shared responsibility and continuous action at all levels,” he affirmed.
