Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun welcomed Ambassador Weert Borner, the Consul General of the German Embassy in Nigeria, during his visit. The meeting highlighted the German government’s commitment to enhancing its relationship with the state, particularly in the agricultural sector and energy transition.
Governor Abiodun expressed his administration’s renewed dedication to boosting food production by attracting investments and partnerships in commercialized farming. The focus is on supporting small-scale farmers through eight extension services, empowering them with knowledge on effective farming techniques, providing tractors, and offering other mechanized farming equipment.
To accomplish these goals, Ogun State is actively seeking partnerships in commercialized farming and the provision of tractors and other mechanized farming techniques.
Governor Abiodun emphasized the state’s determination to contribute to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s food security agenda. The aim is for Ogun State to become the primary source of food for the nation. The administration is devising innovative strategies to expedite the attainment of this objective.
The governor also expressed gratitude to the German government for their capacity-building program facilitated by GIZ in Ogun State. This program has been instrumental in equipping farmers with the necessary skills and knowledge to enhance agricultural productivity.
The strengthened relationship between the German government and Ogun State in the agricultural sector holds promising prospects for the state’s economic growth and food security goals.
