A preliminary investigation into the School building collapse in the Busa Buji area of Jos, Plateau State, in North Central Nigeria, has shown that the structure was defective.
The Director General of the Nigerian Building and Road Research Institute (NBRRI), Samson Duna, at a press briefing on Tuesday in Jos, said there were several defects on the building as identified by preliminary investigations from the team formed by the Federal Government.
According to the Plateau State Government, 22 persons died and 132 persons were injured after the school building collapsed last Friday.
NBRRI was mandated to constitute a panel to look into the remote and immediate cause of the building collapse and make recommendations in line with the mandate of the institute.
Duna identified the dangers inherent in building collapses, causes, consequences and prevention strategies using a multi-faceted framework.
