…Separatist Agitator Faces Charges Of Alleged Terrorism Incitement

At last, the trial of a separatist agitator, Simon Ekpa, is set to begin in Finland, aa authorities have filed charges of incitement of terrorism before the Päijät-Häme District Court in Lahti.

Our correspondent gathered that the charges, which were filed on Friday, May 16, border on the alleged “spreading of separatist propaganda” from his Lahti residence, leading to possible escalation of violence in parts of the South East.

Earlier reports of suggesting that the Federal Government had begun extradition process against Ekpa were dismissed by the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi (SAN).

However, top establishment sources, who spoke in confidence with this platform, said arrangements have been concluded to arraign Ekpa in court.

He is suspected of committing the crimes between August 2021, and November 2024.

It was further gathered that the Finnish Police are handling the investigation, with assistance from “Nigerian authorities”.

“The charges against Simon Ekpa, the separatist agitator, were filed on Friday, May 16, in Finland, where he is based.

“To be specific, the case will be heard in Päijät-Häme District Court in Lahti. A hearing date has not yet been set.

“Ekpa is suspected of committing the crimes between August 2021 and November 2024.

“He is suspected of spreading separatist propaganda from his home in Lahti, one of the sources disclosed in confidence

Another source, who spoke in similar vein, noted this: “The police are investigating the case together with Nigerian authorities.

“It is a known fact that Ekpa’s activities allegedly led to violence and other crimes against civilians and authorities in southeastern Nigeria”.
