The presidential spokesperson, Ajuri Ngelale announced the newly appointed FERMA board member in a statement on Friday.
The recent appointment of Imam Ibrahim Kashim as the chairman of the Federal Roads Maintenance Agency (FERMA) has generated talks among Nigerians.
Kashim, a 24-year-old first-class graduate in Mechanical Engineering from Brighton University in the UK, has no work experience, thereby leaving the people questioning his accountability over the job.
Critica argues that Imam’s youth and inexperience make him ill-suited to lead an important government agency like FERMA.
They expressed worries that the appointment might set a dangerous precedent, where politicians could appoint their children to high-profile positions without considering their qualifications.
A Twitter user, @Haslawal87, expressed their skepticism, stating, “Appointing a fresh graduate with no work experience to such a high position is ill-advised.”

Another user, @kennyNuga, questioned the appointment’s worthiness: “This appointment is not worth it. A fresh graduate to oversee the entire FERMA board. Unworthy.”
Interestingly, protectors of the arrangement contend that Imam’s scholastic capabilities and family foundation give serious areas of strength that influence his position. They propose that Imam’s dad, Kashim Ibrahim-Imam, a veteran lawmaker with broad involvement with the public area, may offer direction.
A Twitter user,
@adamsaleemm, viewed Imam’s appointment as a positive step, saying, “Good to see young and vibrant people occupy places of authority. Despite his inexperience, which raises ethical concerns, he could be the catalyst for the transformation we have longed for. May Allah grant him wisdom and strength to fulfill his duties.”
As Kashim accepts his new job, it is not yet clear the way that he will perform and whether he can address the worries and incredulity because of his arrangement.
