Explosion In Ogun Steel Factory Leaves Seven People Injured

The Ogun state government has ordered the immediate closure of steel company after an explosion rocked the place


The incident which happened on Sunday morning at the company located in Ogijo area of Sagamu Local Government Area of Ogun State left seven people injured


The cause of the ugly incident is yet to be ascertained as of the time of filing this report, but the State Commissioner for Environment, Mr. Ola Oresanya, vowed to get to the root-cause of the accident.


Oresanya, who paid an on-the-spot assessment visit to the scene of the incident, also ordered the immediate closure of the iron rod manufacturing company.


Speaking during his visit to the scene of the accident, the Environment Commissioner stated that, ”Under the rule of engagement with all the industries in the state, we will carry out a thorough investigation on the remote and immediate causes of the explosion with a view of preventing future occurrence.


“The investigation will spell out in clear terms the condition under which the company can operate so that its workers can be adequately protected as well as property of its immediate communities which were affected by the gas explosion.”


All the injured persons have been taken to hospital or treatment
