As part of efforts to spread joy and support to citizens during the festive season, the Executive Governor of Imo State, Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma, distributed yelutide rice palliatives to all Local Government Areas in the state. This gesture, targeted at alleviating the burdens of the festive period, was coordinated through the chairmen of the respective LGAs.
In Obowo Local Government Area, the palliative rice was received by the Executive Chairman, Hon. Barr. Obioma Ehirim, who ensured its efficient distribution to the people. To facilitate a smooth process, the rice was handed over to ward councillors for distribution at the ward level, ensuring that it reached every community.
During the event, Hon. Barr. Obioma Ehirim expressed profound gratitude to Governor Uzodimma for the thoughtful initiative. He described it as a “beautiful gesture” that demonstrated the governor’s commitment to the well-being of Ndi Imo.
“We are very grateful to His Excellency, Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma, for this beautiful gesture,” Hon. Ehirim stated. “This rice is the share Obowo received from the Christmas palliative His Excellency gave to Ndi Imo. We are distributing it through the various communities by handing it over to the ward councillors, who will coordinate the sharing at the ward level.”
The Chairman emphasized that the palliative distribution was in alignment with the governor’s directive, ensuring transparency and fairness in reaching the grassroots.
Also speaking at the event, the Deputy Chairman of Obowo LGA, Hon. Onyegbule Hyginus, expressed joy and appreciation for the governor’s benevolence.
“I cannot hide my feelings because of the joy I have in me,” Hon. Onyegbule stated. “The chairman gathered all the councillors, including myself, to witness what the governor has given to the people of Obowo as a yuletide gift. When we came, we saw it, and now we are about to share it.”
He commended the Executive Chairman, Hon. Ehirim, for ensuring a seamless distribution process that aligned with the governor’s vision. “We appreciate the governor’s gift, and I thank our Executive Chairman for his human feelings and for distributing the palliatives wonderfully.”
Hon. Onyegbule concluded by praying for the governor’s continued success and longevity, expressing optimism for more impactful initiatives in the future.
Adding his voice, the Leader of the Obowo Legislative Council, Hon. Justice Uwalaka, praised the governor and the Executive Chairman for their efforts.
“In fact, it is a thing of joy the way the chairman has adopted a transparent distribution approach,” Hon. Uwalaka said. “Certainly, the rice will get to the grassroots. I thank the governor of Imo State, Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma, for remembering Ndi Imo and giving them this Christmas gift.”
He commended Hon. Ehirim for his leadership and teamwork with other councillors, noting that the chairman had started his administration on a commendable note. “It’s a thing of joy, and I believe everybody will benefit from this yuletide gift. I also thank my colleagues for always working as a team.”
