A late goal by substitute Mikel Oyarzabal helped Spain Beat England 2-1  and win a record fourth European Championship title on Sunday

With about four minutes of normal time left and the game at 1-1 Oyarzabal slid in to poke home Marc Cucurella’s cross, just when the game at Berlin’s Olympiastadion seemed destined for extra time after the latest show of resilience by England at the tournament.

Substitute Cole Palmer had restored parity for England in the 73rd minute to cancel out Nico Williams’ opening goal in the 47th minute from Lamine Yamal’s pass.

The loss means England are still chasing for a first European championship title. They also lost in the final to Italy in the last edition held in England

Spain have now won the title four times before

They won the title in 1964, 2008 and 2012 and now 2024
