The technical director of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Austine Eguavoen is likely to take charge of the Super Eagles for the upcoming 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying fixtures against Benin Republic and Rwanda.
This comes after Finidi George’s resignation in June, and the NFF’s delay in appointing a new head coach.
With the games against Benin and Rwanda just three weeks away, Eguavoen’s experience and familiarity with the team make him the ideal candidate to lead the Super Eagles in the interim.
He previously led the team to the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon as an interim manager.
The Super Eagles will host Benin at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo on September 7, before traveling to Kigali to face Rwanda three days later.
