Ebonyi state governor, Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru has approved the Surgical and medical interventions for the State civil servants through Ebonyi state health insurance Agency.
Ebonyi state health insurance agency has registered over 500 cases, including eye screenings, issuance of eye glasses, eye surgeries, fibroid, and hernia surgeries to reduce cost for the civil servants in the state.
The flag off of the Onwa Healthcare medical and surgical outreach, was conducted by the head of service, Rita marry Okoro in the early hours of monday, 30th of September 2024 inline with Governor Nwifuru’s aim to embark on free health insurance for all Ebonyi civil servants.
“Today, September 30th, marks the flag-off of the Onwa Healthcare medical and surgical outreach, made possible by His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru’s who on the 7th November 2023 approved a free health insurance for all civil servants.
Speaking with civil servants, the executive Secretary, Ebonyi State Health Insurance Agency, Divine Okemefuna Igwe, said Since April 29th, 2024, civil servants and their families have had accessed health services free of charge in Ebonyi.
Okemefuna, however, noted that the agency has specialized care for 500 registered cases, including eye screenings, issuance of eye glasses, eye surgeries, fibroid, and hernia surgeries
He further stated that the initiative would provides financial risk protection, reduces catastrophic medical expenditures, and ensures quality service delivery through renowned consultants involvement.
According to him, “Ebonyi state health insurance agency is committed to offering affordable health care services to the people of Ebonyi State in line with the peoples charter of need mantra of Ebonyi state Government.

“When I visited hospitals, remember that all expenses, including investigations, medications, and services, have been fully paid for by the Governor through EBSHIA.
