Earlier today, the first lady of Ebonyi State, Chief. Mrs. Uzoamaka Mary-Maudlin Nwifuru, flagged off the 2023 edition of Maternal, Newborn and Child Health Week (MNCHW) Campaign in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State. The exercise is free to all newborn, children, and pregnant women.
The program was organized by the State Government in collaboration with Helen Keller International, World Health Organization (WHO), USAID among other international partners.
Her pet project, Better Health for Rural Women, Children, and Internally Displaced Persons Foundation (BERWO) is complimenting efforts of the state government to prioritize well-being of children, women, and the Internally displaced persons.
The exercise included the administration of vitamin A supplements, deworming, nutritional assessment, screening for malnutrition and immunization which are geared towards reduction of maternal, child morbidity and mortality in the state. She further extended her sincere appreciation to all partners especially, Hellen Keller International, WHO, Vitamin Angels, UNICEF, and Breakthrough Action Nigeria for their technical and financial support to the state.
