Uche Kingsley, a self-proclaimed devout Christian, has been arrested by the police in connection with a notorious native doctor and alleged ritualist in Enugu, Obi Obieze. Obieze, who also goes by several aliases including Obu Onyeka, “Ezeani,” and “E-Dey-Play-E-Dey-Show,”
He is known for his flamboyant lifestyle and is currently under investigation for multiple ritual killings.
Despite his public image as a religious man, Kingsley is now accused of using Christianity as a facade to conceal his involvement in ritual practices. According to a police statement, he is among several individuals apprehended during an operation targeting a ritualist syndicate.
The police statement reads: “The operation also led to the arrest of three male suspects connected to the crime, namely: Uche Kingsley Agumba, aged 33; Ilo Nweze Onyedikachi, aged 36; and Ejike Odinwankpa, aged 38.”
Acquaintances revealed that Kingsley frequently traveled from Aba to Enugu under the guise of attending church programs.
However, he reportedly used these trips to visit the native doctor now accused of ritual killings.
Religious paraphernalia such as church stickers were found in his shop, vehicles, and home, further solidifying his false image as a devout Christian.
Kingsley was widely regarded as a successful businessman. He was known for selling building materials in Ariaria Market, Aba, and furniture materials at Iloabuchi, Port Harcourt, Rivers State. His Facebook profile largely featured advertisements for building supplies as well as religious content.
The case took a disturbing turn on May 26, when a 13-year-old girl was abducted while walking to the farm with her father. The following day, her cries were heard coming from the compound of Obi Obieze. Upon investigation, locals discovered the girl bound and apparently prepared for a ritual sacrifice. Further searches uncovered the remains of other victims buried in a soakaway pit, including a heavily pregnant woman.
Enraged residents torched the native doctor’s house and vehicles after the discovery. Obieze initially fled but was later apprehended while attempting to escape to the Benin Republic.
Despite the grave allegations, some acquaintances of Kingsley remain in disbelief. A friend from Aba posted the following on Facebook:“When I heard Kingsley was arrested for ritual activities, I was shocked. He was always attending church services. He used to ask me why I wasn’t in church. But I remember, after we finished our apprenticeship, he once said he would make money by any means. ‘We serve the Master.
Meanwhile, investigations are ongoing, and the police have assured the public that all individuals involved will be brought to justice.
