A Federal High Court sitting in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State Capital has stoppedd the Sole Administrator Ibokette Ibas from appointing Sole Administrators to run the state’s 23 council areas.
The PILEX Centre for Civic Education Initiative led by Courage Msirimovu had gone to court to challenge the moves by Ibas to appoint sole administrators to run the affairs of local government areas.
A motion exparte application she filed had asked the court to bar Ibas from appointing sole administrators to administer the LGA within the remaining months of his six months tenure.
She filed the exparte motion on March 28, 2025 and prayed the court for an order of interim injunction restraining the respondent (Ibas), or his agents from appointing the Sole Administrator or whatever name called for the 23 LGAs.
Justice Adamu Turaki Muhammed, who granted the prayers of Ñsirimovu, said he said there are enough reasons to grant the prayers, fixing April 14, 2025 for hearing.
