In a bid to ensure that Vendors stick to contractual agreement and also deliver as at when due, the state commissioner for Power and Water Resources, Engr Julius Chukwuemeka led the Ministry’s team to inspect the ongoing resuscitations of water schemes across Onitsha metropolitan city.
Mr Commissioner who visited GRA Onitsha water scheme, CLASH Program water scheme off MCC and Terminal Reservoir Water Scheme all in Onitsha, expressed satisfaction with the level and quality of works by the vendors. He reaffirmed the commitment of Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo in keeping to his promise of making clean & portable water available to the people of the state.
Engr Chukwuemeka however charged, the vendors to maintain the contractual agreements in the remaining projects while assuring them of tackling few bottlenecks they identified.
The site manager of Birsa Water Ltd and that of Ovanman Pumps Ltd in their separate interviews, assured the commissioner of concluding the projects on or before the due dates after which residents of Onitsha including people of Fegge, Oguta, Modebe, Nkisi, GRA, part of 3-3, Port Harcourt road, Army Barracks & environs among other areas within Onitsha, would begin to enjoy 247 water supply.
The MD Anambra State Urban Water Asset Corporation, Hon Ikeobi Ejiofor, the Permanent secretary of the ministry, Sir Victor Ezekwo, Director of Water Resources Mr Tochukwu Nwosu among others, joined Mr Commissioner to the inspection.
