Chief Chukwunonso Madubueze, a prominent figure in Ezeanagu Ubahu Okija, Ihiala Local Government Area, has raised concerns about alleged intimidation by the police and vigilante groups in Okija. He claims that despite his position as a cabinet member and his efforts in combating crime, he was targeted for arrest.

Chief Chukwunonso Madubueze shared his account of an incident where he was informed by someone named Isaac that he had been summoned by the Chief Security Officer of Okija Vigilante, Mr. Ben Ezeh (Ikenga Okija). Chief Madubueze agreed to the meeting, but was taken aback by Mr. Ben’s statement. According to Chief Madubueze, Mr. Ben questioned why he hadn’t paid homage or shown respect since assuming office. To Chief Madubueze’s surprise, the Ihiala Area Command had mobilized vehicles to arrest him, despite Mr. Ben’s endorsement of his character and integrity.

Chief Madubueze further revealed that when he requested Mr. Ben accompany him to the police station, Mr. Ben declined and presented him with two options: to go alone or to stay away from the community.

The alleged intimidation of Chief Chukwunonso Madubueze, considering his position and contributions to the community, has raised concerns about the treatment of individuals in Anambra. It remains to be seen how this situation will unfold and if any actions will be taken to address the issue.
