Chelsea earned their first win under new manager Enzo Maresca with a 2-0 victory over Servette in the Conference League play-off first leg.

Christopher Nkunku scored a penalty in the second half, followed by a late goal from substitute Noni Madueke, securing a two-goal advantage for the Blues.

The much-changed Chelsea side struggled to open up their Swiss opponents until Nkunku was fouled by goalkeeper Jeremy Frick, leading to the penalty.

Nkunku celebrated his goal by inflating a blue balloon in front of the Chelsea fans.

Despite dominating possession, Chelsea had to work hard for their win, surviving some awkward moments, including a deflected effort from Tiemoko Ouattara that hit the bar in the 86th minute.

The win marks a positive start for Maresca, who made nine changes from the team that started against Manchester City on Sunday.

The Blues will look to finish the job and advance to the group stage of the Conference League when they travel to Geneva for the second leg on August 29.
