Newcastle United are once again within one victory of ending a 56-year wait for silverware after convincingly beating Arsenal at St James’ Park last night.
Eddie Howe’s side, who held a 2-0 advantage from the semi-final first leg, completed the second part of the assignment with a 2-0 win on home soil thanks to goals from Jacob Murphy and Anthony Gordon.
The Magpies will now face Liverpool or Tottenham Hotspur at Wembley as they seek to end their long period without major success, stretching back to the 1969 triumph in the Inter-Cities Fairs Cup.
They will also be hoping to make amends after losing to Manchester United in the EFL Cup final just two years ago, having not claimed a first domestic honour since the 1955 FA Cup
