Awka Community Welcomes CP Orutugu On His Second Missionary Journey As Anambra State Commissioner Of Police

The capital city of Anambra State, Awka, has warmly welcomed Mr. Ikioye Orutugu following his redeployment as the 35th Commissioner of Police in the state.

Receiving CP Orutugu at his palace, the Traditional Ruler of Awka, Obi Gibson Nwosu, expressed gratitude to God for the return of the Police Commissioner to Anambra for a second tenure, noting that since CP Orutugu resumed office, there has been a noticeable reduction in insecurity across the state, and assured him of the unwavering support of the Awka community.

In their separate remarks, the Prime Minister of Awka, Chief Benjamin Okoye; the Palace Adviser on Security and Intelligence, Chief Ken Chukwurah, the Palace Administrative Secretary, Chief Alex Nwachukwu, and the Chairman of Awka Stakeholders Forum, Chief Ken Ekwenugo, reaffirmed the commitment of the palace, traditional leadership, and the good people of Awka to support CP Orutugu, and to collaborate with him in enhancing the state’s security architecture.

Responding, CP Orutugu appreciated the Awka traditional institution for its ongoing partnership with the Police in maintaining security in Awka and Anambra State at large, highlighting the recent “Egwu Imo Awka festival”, which he described as crime-free, as a testament to their successful collaboration, encouraging community stakeholders to intensify efforts in enlightening the youth to shun crime and criminality for a safer Anambra.

Women Affairs Commissioner, Obinabo Urges Parents To Join Hands In Supporting Anti-Bullying Initiatives

The Anambra State Commissioner for Women and Social Welfare, Mrs Ify Obinabo has urged parents, educators, community leaders and all stakeholders to join hands in supporting anti-bullying initiatives. This she said at the 2925 children’s day celebration at Solution Fun city Awka, Anambra State.

The wake up call was made following this years theme “Stand up, Speak up: Building a bullying free generation.”

Mrs Obinabo explained that bullying is not merely a childhood rite of passage but a serious issue that can have long term consequences on the Child’s mental and emotional well-being.

Earlier, Speaker of the Children’s Parliament, Rt. Hon. Victory Ekwunife, who listed out some of the strides and legacies of the Governor noted that the recent passage of the Anambra State Correctional Services Bill by the State House of Assembly provides a robust legal framework to support the humane and effective management of offenders, including juveniles.

Highlight of the event was the tour of all the children round the Solution Fun city as well as march past by different schools and cultural performances.
