Arsenal continued their pre-season preparations in style, defeating German champions Bayer Leverkusen 4-1 at Emirates Stadium.
The Gunners dominated the match, racing into an early 2-0 lead courtesy of goals from Oleksandr Zinchenko and Leandro Trossard.
Gabriel Jesus added a third before halftime, capitalizing on a loose throw-in to run clear and score.
In the second half, Bukayo Saka came off the bench to create the fourth goal with a clever cut-back, which Kai Havertz slotted home.
Leverkusen, who finished unbeaten in last season’s Bundesliga, scored a late consolation goal through Adam Hlozek.
Arsenal will look to build on this impressive win when they face Lyon in the Emirates Cup on Sunday.
Meanwhile, Aston Villa secured a thrilling 3-2 victory over Athletic Bilbao at Walsall’s Bescot Stadium. Cameron Archer scored a stunning solo winner in the final minutes, racing onto a long ball and rounding the goalkeeper to seal victory.
Villa had been pegged back twice before Archer’s decisive strike. They conclude their pre-season campaign against Borussia Dortmund at Signal Iduna Park on Saturday.”
