The National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Barrister Sly Ezeokenwa, has expressed deep sympathy for the victims of the twin fire incidents that occurred on Tuesday, March 25, 2025, at the electronics section of Iweka Road near Ochanja Market, Onitsha, and yesterday, March 28, 2025, at Ifejika Street, off Sokoto Road, Onitsha.
Barrister Ezeokenwa described the incidents as heartbreaking, acknowledging the emotional and material losses suffered by residents and business owners. He assured the affected individuals of APGA’s unwavering support and urged relevant agencies to provide immediate relief and assistance to mitigate the impact of the tragedy.
“This is a deeply unfortunate event, and my heart goes out to all those affected. I urge the government and emergency response teams to take swift action in assisting the victims and ensuring that measures are put in place to prevent future occurrences,” Ezeokenwa stated.
The APGA National Chairman also called on well-meaning individuals and organizations to extend a hand of support to the victims as they begin the process of recovery. Furthermore, he urged Nigerians to always adhere to fire safety guidelines and take necessary precautions to prevent future occurrences, emphasizing the importance of vigilance in homes, markets, and business areas.
Barrister Ezeokenwa assured Nigerians that APGA remains committed to their welfare and safety and will continue to advocate for enhanced fire safety awareness and response mechanisms across the state.
