ANSG Holds Sensitization Meeting On HIV/AIDS Control

Sharing is caring

The Anambra State Ministry of Health, in collaboration with the Anambra State AIDS Control Agency (ANSACA), has held a three-day stakeholders’ sensitization meeting aimed at developing a strategic plan to control HIV/AIDS in the state.

The meeting brought together key stakeholders, including health workers, government officials, and implementing partners, to plan activities that would address HIV thematic areas, including treatment, prevention, care, and support. The Commissioner for Health, Dr. Afam Obidike, emphasized the need for training and retraining of health workers to effectively handle HIV/AIDS cases.

The ANSACA Programme Manager, Dr. Johnbosco Ementa, stated that the meeting was aimed at achieving a sustainable plan that would ensure government ownership of HIV response and integration of TB, HIV, and malaria interventions. The stakeholders’ input would help develop a strategic plan that aligns with the national response and targets all interventions to ensure that people living with HIV/AIDS receive free treatment and care.

The meeting is part of efforts to achieve HIV epidemic control in Anambra State by 2030.
