Anambra State Police Command Boosts Security, Launches Operation “Udo Ga Achi” To Combat Crime

In a determined effort to enhance security, the Anambra State Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, has initiated Operation “Udo Ga Achi” (Peace Will Reign), aimed at eradicating kidnapping and other violent crimes. This initiative involves close collaboration between the police, the Nigerian Military, Immigration Service, Department of State Services, Civil Defence, Correctional Service, and other security agencies.

During the launch, CP Ikioye Orutugu explained that Operation “Udo Ga Achi” is a proactive measure intended to ease public concerns and guarantee effective policing throughout Anambra State. The operation seeks to enable residents and visitors to celebrate Easter without the fear of kidnapping or other violent acts.

The Commissioner emphasized the high morale of the security forces and stated that the operation would foster a more coordinated approach to securing public spaces. It will also serve as a platform for daily strategic assessments as the operation unfolds.

He further directed all Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) and other security formations to conduct extensive raids on known criminal hideouts within their jurisdictions.

“This strategic initiative aims to dislodge criminal elements, proactively address potential threats, boost public confidence, and ensure the continued safety and security of all residents,” he stated.

CP Ikioye added that Operation “Udo Ga Achi” would be intelligence-driven, incorporating Stop-and-Search operations, joint security patrols, and strategically deployed Armored Personnel Carriers to respond swiftly to emergencies.

He assured the public that all officers involved have been instructed to treat citizens with respect and uphold human rights.
