Anambra State Governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo has reminded traditional rulers, presidents general, and other community leaders in the state that their primary responsibility is to ensure peace and harmony in their various towns, threatening to remove any of them who fails the people in that regard.
The Governor made this known at Government House, Awka, through his deputy, Dr Onyekachukwu Ibezim who is also the Chairman of the state’s Boundary Committee during a meeting with stakeholders of Eziaguluotu-Aguleri and Umuoba Anam both in Anambra East Local Government Area, on boundary issues.
Governor Soludo advised people of Eziaguluotu-Aguleri and Umuoba Anam to give peace a chance and seize every activity on the disputef land, as government will not allow any act that threatens public peace, adequate security of life and property.
In their various speeches, the Traditional Ruler of Umuoba Anam, Igwe George Obalum-Ekwealor, and his Eziaguluotu Aguleri counterpart, Igwe Lawrence Nwofia claim ownership of the said land and appealed to the state government to help them determine the rightful owner of the land with evidence they will provide.
In their remarks, the Mayor of Anambra East, Sir Ifeanyi Chinweze, Traditional Ruler of Aguleri, Igwe Michael Idigo, and a former Member of the State House of Assembly that represented Anambra East, Honourable Obinna Emenaka thanked the government for wading into the matter in view to amicably resolve it, as well as promised to contribute their quota to ensure that peace returens in the area.
