The Association of Past Presidents General (APPAS) of all town unions in Anambra South has endorsed Chief (Dr) Ebuka Onunkwo, Chairman/CEO of Seahorse Lubricant Industries Ltd, for the forthcoming Anambra South Senatorial District by-election.
The endorsement was announced after a closed-door meeting of the association on Wednesday, December 4, 2024. Speaking during the meeting, Ichie Dr (Sir) I.G. Nnubia, the Anambra South Zonal Chairman of APPAS, explained that the association carefully reviewed the track records of all aspirants vying to replace the late Senator Ifeanyi Ubah and found Chief Onunkwo to be the most qualified.
In his remarks, Dr (Sir) Nnubia said, “with our grassroots experience, we understand what it takes to represent Anambra South effectively at the Senate. After thoroughly examining the credentials and achievements of all aspirants, none compares to Chief Ebuka Onunkwo.”
He continued, “whether in human capital development, community service, or personal integrity, Chief Onunkwo stands head and shoulders above others. Considering the high standard set by the late Senator and the commendable efforts of our working governor, who is also from Anambra South, we firmly believe Chief Onunkwo is the right candidate to elevate our senatorial district to greater heights.”
In his response, Chief Onunkwo expressed gratitude for the confidence reposed in him by the association. He pledged to prioritize the development of the district if elected. “I decided to contest for this position because I believe it provides a larger platform to positively impact lives and drive the developmental interventions our people desperately need,” he stated.
The meeting followed a tour of Seahorse Lubricant Industries in Ozubulu, where the past presidents observed Chief Onunkwo’s exemplary leadership and his cordial relationship with employees at the thriving company.

He is contesting under the banner of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), the ruling party in Anambra State, to represent the Anambra South Senatorial District.
The meeting was well attended by APPAS representatives from various towns in Anambra South. Also present was Chief Omife Omife, The Chairman of APPAS Anambra State chapter.
