Anambra State Police at alert ahead May 30th sit at home
Ahead of the May 30 2025 sit-at-home order declared by the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), the Anambra State Police Command has announced that the Joint Security Forces have intensified patrols across strategic locations to forestall any possible breakdown of law and order.

The command said that these patrols aim to prevent any molestation, harassment, or intimidation of innocent citizens engaged in lawful activities on Friday by any group or individuals.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the command, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, stated that this decision followed the outcome of a closed-door meeting held by the Anambra Security Service Commanders in anticipation of the illegal sit-at-home scheduled for May 30, 2025, orchestrated by criminal elements.

He further explained that the Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, has acknowledged the heightened motivation of the Police and other security agencies, which stems from the cooperation and support received from Ndi Anambra, who have united to condemn any acts threatening national peace.

According to SP Ikenga, this collective effort has further strengthened the resolve of the security agencies to address threats to peace and security in the state, fostering a safer environment through community-police collaboration.

“Given the above, the Police-led Joint Security Force, comprising the Department of State Services (DSS), Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), other security agencies, as well as the Army and Navy complementing the security deployment, has intensified patrols and taken control of strategic junctions in Awka, Onitsha, Nnewi, Ihiala, Oraifite, and many other parts of the state. This demonstrates the commitment of the security agencies to maintaining order, as their heightened presence aims to deter criminal activities, reassure the public, and provide a safe environment for citizens and visitors alike,” he stated.

He also advised that in the event of needing security services or assistance, members of the public should contact the Command Control Room at 07039194332 or the PPRO at 08039334002 for prompt response. Additionally, calls can be made to the various Area Commanders or Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) in respective areas of concern; a list of their contact numbers is attached for public reference.

The police have released a list of contact phone numbers to be used in case of any emergency.
