Anambra born business mogul and philanthropist, High Chief Hamilton Ezeonu, has joined eminent Nigerians in congratulating the paramount ruler of Nnobi community in Idemili South LGA, His Royal Majesty, Igwe (Engr) Nick Obi, JP, FNSE, on the occasion of his 87th birthday and 17 years on the monarchic throne.
Ezeonu said the Igwe Omenyili has, in 17 years on the throne of his ancestors, “provided purposeful, and tenacious leadership” to his people and therefore, deserved to be celebrated on this special occasion of his birthday anniversary.
In a statement issued by his personal assistant in Onitsha, yesterday, Ezeonu commended the monarch for his giant strides in sustaining peace, development and spirit of unity in Nnobi town.
Ezeonu, who holds special title of Ikemba Nnobi, revealed that the traditional ruler’s commitment to good leadership is the reason for sustained peace, progress and love in Nnobi and neghbouring towns.
He said, “When Igwe (Engr) Nick Obi was Special Adviser to Governor Peter Obi on Works, he used his office to attract several roads, water and electricity projects to Nnobi community.
“Chief Ezeonu noted that since he ascended the throne barely 17 years ago, he had brokered peace among villages in the town, and restored peace between Nnobi and neighbouring towns. There has not been any incident of inter and intra communal clashes since he ascended the throne.
“The traditional ruler’s ‘Think Home’ mantra also compelled illustrious sons and daughters of the community to repatriate their wealths back home; the reason why hospitals, business firms, and many other giant business concerns are springing up in droves in the town.
“Igwe Nick Obi’s dedication to the welfare of his people and his unwavering leadership have set a standard of excellence that is capable of inspiring traditional, political and religious leaderships and institutions. Over the past 17 years, his reign has been marked by progress, unity, and deep commitment to good values.
“His vision and guidance have not only preserved the rich heritage of Nnobi culture, but have also fostered a spirit of progress and harmony among his subjects. The love and respect he commands from all corners of Nnobi, Anambra State and Nigeria in general, reflect the profound impact he has made.”
According to the statement, Ezeonu, with his wife, Dr. Thelma, join the Igwe Omenyili family and people of Nnobi at home and in the Diaspora in celebrating the octogenarian monarch, “scholar per excellence, bridge-builder and elder statesman on this outstanding point in the journey of his life.”
He prayed that the traditional ruler would remain in good health, wisdom and strength to continue leading the people of Nnobi.
