An Anambra-based lawyer, Adachukwu Okafor, has been paraded in Abuja by the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, for allegedly brutalizing a house girl. The incident, which was captured in a viral video, has sparked outrage and calls for justice.

The Inspector General of Police, represented by Bisi Okuobi, Head of Police Campaign against Cultism and Other Vices (POCACOV), emphasized the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to ensuring the diligent prosecution of the case. The police chief has zero tolerance for domestic violence and abuse of minors.

The police swung into action after receiving a complaint from the Minister of Women Affairs. The complaint was prompted by a video showing a 10-year-old girl with burns and injuries allegedly inflicted by Okafor, who had employed her as a maid for two weeks.

According to the complaint, Okafor used a broken bottle, knife, and electric iron to “brutalize” the child after accusing her of touching her own daughter. The incident took place in Akpaka, Onitsha, in Anambra State.

The girl endured unimaginable suffering as Okafor reportedly inserted a hot knife into her private parts and poured ground pepper on it. She also used a hot electric iron on the maid’s cheek and buttocks. After subjecting the maid to trauma, Okafor locked her up in a toilet.

This shocking incident has sparked widespread outrage and demands for justice. The police are determined to ensure that the case is thoroughly investigated and that the perpetrator faces the full consequences of her actions.
