Anambra Lands’ Commissioner, Prof. Amucheazi Pledges To Make Anambra GIS Most Efficient And Effective In Nigeria

The Anambra State Commissioner for Lands, Prof. Offornze Amucheazi, SAN, has re-stated the mandate and commitment of the Ministry in making Anambra State Geographic Information System (ANAMGIS), the most efficient and effective among all States in Nigeria on Geographic Information System.

The Commissioner made this known when he received members of the Anambra State House of Assembly Committee on Lands, Survey and Town Planning in his office.

Prof. Amucheazi while stating that ANAMGIS initiative was one of the highlights of Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo’s manifesto, achieved within a space of two years, was aimed at digitizing and fast-tracking land administration processes in Anambra State.

Speaking on the ongoing recertification and revalidation exercise in the State, he noted that the new Certificate of Occupancy comes with a QR code and special security features.

The Commissioner who attributed the successes recorded in the Ministry to Governor Soludo’s intentional commitment for an efficient and effective land administration system in the State, thanked members of the committee for their unwavering support so far and pleaded for more support to enable the Ministry continue to deliver on its mandate. The Commissioner later took the committee members on a facility tour of the Ministry.

The Chairman of the Anambra State House of Assembly Committee on Lands, Survey and Town Planning, Hon Jude Akpua, who led the delegation explained that the committee members were on a working visit in furtherance of their oversight responsibilities to get first hand information on the condition and activities of the State’s Ministry of Lands. He further promised to ensure that the Ministry was given every necessary support within their legislative capacity to carry out their assigned responsibilities.

The Committee members who took turns to speak, commended the Commissioner, Prof Offornze Amucheazi, his management team as well as staff of the Ministry for the uncommon ongoing transformation in the Ministry, infrastructurally and in service delivery.

The Committee’s visit followed the recent commissioning of ANAMGIS by Mr Governor and, in effect, demonstrated an all-round commitment of State Institutions (the executive and legislature) towards sustainable development solutions for Ndi Anambra.

The Permanent Secretary, Lands, Mrs Nkeiru Mokwe Esq; Acting Director Lands, Mrs Chineze Obih; Acting Director Accounts, Mrs Adaeze Egwuatu and Chief Deeds Officer, Mrs Rita Anarado joined the Commissioner to receive the committee members.
