The Anambra State First Lady, Mrs Nonye Soludo has described the latest record-breaking feat by students of Christ the King College (CKC), Onitsha, at the World Affairs Challenge (WAC), as a fair return of government’s intentional investments in the state’s education sector.
The governor’s wife who stated this in a message which was released in Awka, noted that such giant milestones could only come from Anambra State where education is given primary attention as the mainstay of human capital development.
The Christ The King College students who were representing Nigeria at the WAC 2024, organized by World Denver, a global organization based in Denver, Colorado, USA, beat countries like Turkey and USA to emerge as overall winners of the reputable competition.
It would be the first time a team that is representing Nigeria is winning the prestigious prize in the tournament’s 32-year history.
In her statement, Mrs Soludo made reference to similar awards which had been brought back by Anambra State, and described the state’s historical milestones on both national and global stages as a reflection of strong political will matched with sincere actions.
She pointed out that the present administration in Anambra State has made massive progress in education sector reforms including boosting human capacity through employment of 8000 qualified teachers, improved learning environments through infrastructural transformation, and strengthening of school curriculums to meet global benchmarks.
Mrs Nonye Soludo also added that the free basic education policy has not only made massive impact on literacy level, but has coalesced well with other development policies that target long-term reforms in the state’s education sector”. She noted.
