The Anambra State Commissioner For Education, Prof. Ngozi Chuma-Udeh, has visited the site of the collapsed Centenary building at Dennis Memorial Grammar School (DMGS), Onitsha.
During her visit, Prof. Chuma-Udeh expressed deep grief over the colossal damage caused by the collapse. She interacted with members of the Nigeria Society of Building Engineers, who were also present to inspect the site and assess the extent of the damage.
Identifying the precise cause of the collapse remains challenging at this stage. The engineers indicated the need to liaise with the contractor responsible for the project to gather more information that could provide clues to the cause of the disaster.
Investigations are ongoing to determine what led to the failure of this multi-million naira project, which was undertaken by the alumni of Dennis Memorial Grammar School, Onitsha.
