Prominent rights activist and co-convener of the BringBackOurGirls (BBOG) advocacy group, Aisha Yesufu, has urged senators to impeach Senate President Godswill Akpabio. Yesufu assured them that they would face no resistance, stating that propaganda cannot sway hungry citizens.
Her call for impeachment follows Akpabio’s dismissive comments towards Nigerians planning to protest against President Bola Tinubu’s administration on August 1.
Akpabio had mockingly told protesters to go ahead, saying “let us be there eating,” downplaying the severity of the country’s hardship.
Yesufu’s statement highlights the growing frustration among Nigerians towards the government’s handling of the economy and its response to citizen concerns.
The impeachment call adds to the mounting pressure on Akpabio and the government to address the country’s challenges
